My boyfriend, Taylor, and I didn't have the luxury of having a date night in when we first started seeing each other. I was renting a room the size of a closet and he lived with his parents. Much of our initial time spent together was out and about. We frequented coffee shops, saw movies, tried new restaurants, went to the park, and participated in similar hobbies. This was incredible, and such a fun way to get to know him, but it was also really expensive.
Now that I live in a house and have been able to carve out a more comfortable living situation, our lifestyle and relationship has changed. Instead of running around and always trying the hippest new eateries, we love to make things together. Taylor is very organized, there's a structure to everything. I'm much more of a fly by the seat of my pants kind of guy. Our combined kitchen skills make for fun and interesting dishes.
Much of our date nights in is centered around a particular meal, but we're just as happy with a cheese plate and bottle of wine. You can make it simple and romantic. We really love Dreaming Trees Wines by Dave Matthews (yes, Dave Matthews Band has a Dave Matthews Wines). We'll cuddle up on the couch in our favorite J. Crew sweat pants and Club Monaco henley's, light a candle and either binge-watch one of our favorite TV shows on Netflix or play a game of Scrabble. Lately, we've been eating way too much of the new Ben & Jerry's core ice cream.
Date Night doesn't always have to be a fancy dinner or a night on the town, staying in is just as fun and a great way to recconect after a long week!
