Did any of you ever watch SMASH on NBC? I totally obssessed over it! It starred a ton of broadway actors and naturally a ton of big and small screen actors like Angelica Houston, Debra Messing and Katharine McPhee.
Well, one of the break out stars, Jeremy Jordan (Broadway's Newsies) has a new movie out and it's based on another broadway play of the same name "The Last Five Years!" His co-star, the always amazing Anna Kendrick! (Pitch Perfect, Into the Woods)
In case your not familiar with the play here is the official rundown courtesy of BroadwayWorld.com
"In this adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, 'The Last Five Years' is a musical deconstruction of a love affair and a marriage taking place over a five year period. Jamie, a young, talented up-and-coming Jewish novelist falls in love with Cathy, a Shiksa Goddess and struggling actress. The film, told almost entirely through song and a beautiful pop music score, portrays an honest, heartbreaking, often funny, exploration of love and its consequences on individual identity.Starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan."
The movie just got a premier date and it looks like February 13th! (yes- a good VDAY alternative to 50 Shades!)
